The Stander brand story 
Grandma Essie's 90th birthday celebration. As she grew older, her mobility became limited, making daily activities challenging. Her family contemplated sending her to a nursing home. Determined to keep Grandma Essie at home, her granddaughter, Jan Miller, a former elementary school teacher, decided to find assistive devices that would allow her grandmother to live independently. Inspired by this mission, Jan developed furniture-like assistive equipment and walking aids that enabled Grandma Essie to continue living comfortably at home.
Jan's creative and practical designs paved the way for Grandma Essie to enjoy her golden years in the comfort of her own home. Motivated by this success, Jan decided to carry on this spirit and help others in need. Together with her scientist husband, Troy Miller, they founded Stander, a furniture and equipment invention and manufacturing company. Stander aims to provide high-quality and affordable products, allowing users to "Be Independent," just like their brand slogan suggests.
